With dozens of exciting ways to spend the 4th of July in Tiburon, why not celebrate Independence Day with some of these great local celebrations.

For the first time, people are allowed onto Angel Island to watch the Independence Day fireworks. A ferry leaves from Tiburon at 6:00 pm and arrives back at 11:20 pm. A shuttle service is available on Angel Island between Ayala Cove and Battery Ledyard. Angel Island’s 4th of July celebration includes music, dancing, food and drinks at the island café and oyster bar. It is advised that visitors come prepared with flashlights or headlamps, along with blankets and portable seats to get comfortable and watch the fireworks. Visit http://www.blueandgoldfleet.com/category/upcoming-events/#_2758 for more information.

If you are going to be in Sausalito, this free July 4th celebration kicks off with a parade from 10:00 am to noon with floats, bands, classic cars, local officials and organizations. The parade starts at Second and Main streets and ends and Dunphy Park. After the parade, Dunphy Park will be hosting a picnic with great food, entertainment, old-fashioned games like egg tosses and tug-of-war, along with music and dancing. The finale is from 6:30-9:30 at Gabrielson Park with live music and a fireworks show. Visit http://www.ci.sausalito.ca.us/Index.aspx?page=946 to learn more.

For those who want to catch the fireworks show from the San Francisco Bay, the Blue & Gold Fleet Fourth of July Fireworks Cruises depart from Tiburon at 8:30 pm and allows cruise-goers a prime view of the show. Visit http://www.blueandgoldfleet.com/category/upcoming-events/#_2728 for more information.

The Marin County Fair at 10 Avenue of the Flags is another great way to celebrate Independence Day. Starting at 11:00 am and running throughout the day until 11:00 pm, the Marin County Fair features puppet shows, Chinese acrobats, animals, exhibits, and live entertainment including Joan Jett and the Blackhearts, the Temptations and Preservation Hall Jazz Bands. Fireworks kick off at 9:30 and all concerts, performances and carnival rides are included in the admission price. Visit http://marinfair.org/ to learn more.
